Lisa Bobrin: Visual Arts

Lisa's formal fine art lessons began at age 11 in the midwest. She started with pottery and then developed into oil painting. To say she grew up in a fine arts saturated home environment would be an understatement. Her mother was a master of pastels, studied voice at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and architecture at the University of Cincinnati. Her father was a professional photographer and dabbled in oil paints. Other media she was exposed to include floor loom weaving and textiles. She actively pursued art education.
Lisa has a BS degree in Occupational Therapy and has continued in that carreer for over 20 years working in rehabilitation, mental health and schools K-12. Coupled with her art education, she has experiences which have married splendidly in teaching the fundamentals of drawing and painting to children and adults.
As John Maeda, president of Rhode Island School of Design says, "I believe we need to add an "A" for art added to the national STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math) education agenda, ……to turn it into STEAM. " and " …developing creativity needs to start in the K-12 schools." It only seems logical to now combine her years of working as an occupational therapist with her love of the creative process by developing studio art courses for drawing and painting fundamentals for the community of Holliston.
Lisa resides in Holliston with her husband and son.
