Theater Classes
Acting 1
Students engaged in the Acting 1 class will learn fundamentals to theater technique. Constantly playing in an improvisational structure students will develop skills that will influence eye contact, posture, and physicality while also developing interpersonal skills through communication. Students build rapport with each other by offering their observations with constructive critique while undergoing an exploratory process to develop their understanding of best practices. Friends and family are invited to the last class to become an audience for the students.
Grades 6, 7 & 8 | Wednesdays | 7:00 to 8:30 pm
Instructor: Chris Roberts
Acting 2
Students will prepare dialogue of their own creation while implementing skills learned in the Act 1 class. Strong physicality will be continued in order to develop characters. More voice work will be added and musical themes will be encouraged. Elements of technical stagecraft will be introduced such as flat construction, framing, and painting. This interdisciplinary approach brings students into the creative process and ultimately allows them to stand by their own choices.

Stage Combat
Stage combat is a specialized movement discipline designed to create the illusion of physical combat without causing harm to the performers. It is employed in live stage plays, operatic, and ballet productions. The term is also used informally to describe fight choreography for other production media including film and television. It is a common field of study for actors and dancers and is closely related to the practice of stunts.
